I thought I'd share, with you, the poem I wrote when Vince made his transition. ------------------------------------------------------- GOODNIGHT, DEAR FRIEND for vince
goodnight, dear friend who chose the channel of hemingway and plath norma jean and judas and the painter whose ancient designation you shared goodnight, dear friend who suffered in secrecy in solitude who encouraged the downtrodden as you came up against no solace what we've give to have you happen through any of our doors in that cocked beret and cocksure rhythm did you fathom how acutely you were cherished? that it would be no less difficult to bid you farewell than this grim event suggests it was for you to stay? goodnight, dear friend were you here now i would confess my fears i would speak to you of unyielding grief and paroxysms in the time between dusk and dawn when nothing real can be hidden and i would implore you to rise with me to damn this misery back to hell to crave with me the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things unseen and to walk with me into another day goodnight, dear friend 'see you in the morning

GOODNIGHT, DEAR FRIEND
for vince
goodnight, dear friend
who chose the channel
of hemingway and plath
norma jean and judas
and the painter
whose ancient designation
you shared
goodnight, dear friend
who suffered in secrecy
in solitude
who encouraged the downtrodden
as you came up against no solace
what we've give to have you happen through any of our doors
in that cocked beret and cocksure rhythm
did you fathom how acutely
you were cherished?
that it would be no less difficult
to bid you farewell
than this grim event suggests it was
for you to stay?
goodnight, dear friend
were you here now
i would confess my fears
i would speak to you of unyielding grief
and paroxysms in the time
between dusk and dawn
when nothing real can be hidden
and i would implore you to rise
with me
to damn this misery back to hell
to crave
with me
the substance of things hoped for
the evidence of things unseen
and to walk
with me
into another day
goodnight, dear friend
'see you in the morning
Patsy...thank you so much for sharing this...i'm absorbing...bless you...
